🍽️ Worked example

How much electricity does a dishwasher use?

Start with a transparent example, then replace the assumptions with your own wattage, operating time and electricity price.

0.89 kWhper day of use
5.33 €per month at 0.20 €/kWh

Worked example

1850 W × 1.2 h/day × 40 % load factor × 30 days.

26.64 kWh/month · 63.94 €/year

This is an energy-only estimate. Your bill can also include standing charges, taxes and other household consumption.

Calculate with my data →

Typical reference range

Use the label, manual or manufacturer data for your exact model whenever possible.

Type or situationIndicative reference
Efficient eco programme≈0.6–0.9 kWh/cycle
Normal programme≈0.8–1.2 kWh/cycle
Intensive / high temperature≈1.2–1.8+ kWh/cycle

What changes the result?

Rated watts are only one part of the calculation.

Formula

Watts to kWh

kWh = (W ÷ 1,000) × hours × load factor. Multiply kWh by your electricity price to estimate energy cost.

Real use

Measure when possible

Thermostats, compressors, inverter control and programmes can make real consumption lower or higher than a simple maximum-power estimate.

Reduce waste

Practical checks

  • Use eco mode when time is not critical.
  • Run full loads rather than repeated half loads.
  • Clean filters and spray arms so the programme can work as intended.
