Divide the system into sensible zones
Pots, planters and beds can need very different amounts of water. Group similar plants and sun exposure where possible so one schedule does not overwater one area while another remains dry.

A 2 L/h emitter running for 30 minutes delivers about 1 litre under ideal conditions. Pressure, height differences, clogged emitters and long lines can change real output, so verify at the plant.
Build the system so it can be maintained
Plan the route, measure the line length, install filtration or pressure regulation if required, flush pipes before closing the ends and keep joints accessible for inspection.
Observe and adjust
A timer prevents missed watering, but it does not understand heat, rain or plant growth. Check soil moisture, blocked drippers, leaks and waterlogging, and change run time as conditions change.
