Comfort, electricity use and maintenance belong in the same calculation

Heating and cooling systems cannot be compared from rated power alone. Outdoor temperature, insulation, room size, setpoint, humidity and operating hours all influence both comfort and electricity use.

Start with the type of estimate you need

Separate maximum power from average consumption

Inverter equipment and thermostatically controlled systems modulate or cycle. That means the maximum input on the label is not the same as average power over a day. The worked example for air-conditioner consumption shows why operating time and load factor matter.

Compare systems on the same heat requirement

If you are choosing between direct electric heating and a heat pump, compare the electricity required to deliver similar comfort rather than comparing appliance wattage alone. See electric radiator vs heat pump for that decision.

BRICODATO · PRACTICAL CHECK

Start with a useful decision, not a product list

Before selecting climate equipment, define room size, heat loss, operating schedule and setpoint. Heating or cooling capacity is not electrical input; compare options at the same comfort outcome rather than on nominal watts alone.

Checklist to reproduce the comparison

  • Choose the matching calculator and substitute your actual measurements.
  • Record the product specification, constraints and result so it can be checked later.

The guides linked above provide the detailed procedure for each topic.
