What makes up the final price
The total can include laminate, underlay, waste, installation, skirting, profiles, removal of the old floor, levelling and door adjustments. Comparing only the box price is therefore misleading.

The subfloor determines how simple the job is
Before laying a floating floor, check flatness, moisture, cleanliness and stability. A good-looking floor over a defective base can end up noisy, moving or opening at joints.
Material, waste and full boxes

Frequently asked questions
Can laminate be laid over the existing floor?
Sometimes, if the base is stable, dry and within the manufacturer’s tolerances. It should be checked rather than assumed.
How much waste should I allow?
It depends on format and room geometry. The BricoDato calculator lets you apply a margin and round to full boxes.
Is skirting normally included?
Not always. It is better listed separately with linear metres and the exact model.

Separate material, preparation and installation costs
An installation quote can be low because subfloor preparation, old-floor removal or edge details were omitted. Start with measured floor area and boxes, then price labour and accessories as separate parts.
Example to adapt
For a hypothetical 60 m² installation, 8% waste gives a purchasing target of 64.8 m². If packs cover 2.22 m², ceil(64.8 ÷ 2.22) = 30 packs, or 66.6 m² purchased. At an illustrative €38.95 per pack the board-only cost is €1,168.50, excluding all installation labour and underlay.
